(01 — PRACTICE)

“I create from the inside to understand the outside.”

Luz turns tangled things—memory, desire, race, belonging and power—into images that can be felt before they are explained.

Luz Alondra's studio wall and workspace

Luz Alondra Sosa Vargas is a Dominican visual artist whose work uses creation as a tool for internal and social analysis.

A graduate of the Escuela Nacional de Artes Visuales (ENAV) and Altos de Chavón School of Design, she works across oil painting, drawing, murals, writing and performance. Her practice examines identity, relationships, racial ties, power and the tension between Caribbean and Nordic experience.

She is part of the collaborative studio Tridente GVL with Vanessa Castellanos and Grisleidy Montero—a practice rooted in sisterhood, shared learning and bringing art into public space.
